Parents Married in 1936.
This particular
marriage broke down in the 1950’s. Involving three teenage
daughters.
The mother packed up and left the family home
taking their three daughters with her.
The mother’s aim and purpose to get a
divorce and to sort out an everyday maintenance deal with the father. The
mother felt total shattered. It seemed like she would never get over it until
the day she died. Which is about what happened.
She got for herself a male solicitor, along with his male accountant. Two for the price of one, it could be said. “The

It could be said that the three
teenage daughters, the eldest twins, and their younger sister had lost the two
people they most needed in all the world to guide them through their teens and
twenties. The toughest years of all in every young persons life. Finishing exams at boarding
school. Choosing a career. And starting out in the real world to earn a living
in their own right. That was the theory, anyway.
The high octane, in practice emotional side however
was a very different kettle of fish. The male solicitor with his male
accountant side kick, quick to recognise and manipulate the financial benefits
likely to come their way if they played their cards right. The 1950’s to the
1970’s over twenty years it took for a divorce settlement to come through. Four years before the father's death in 1977. And 18 years before the mother's death in 1995.
